CANADA BASKETBALL ANNOUNCES ROSTER FOR 2007 FISU GAMES MEN’S TEAM

(Toronto, Ontario) Canada Basketball has officially announced the roster for the development men’s national team that will be competing at the FISU Games in Bangkok, Thailand. The FISU Games are the second largest multi-sport games in the world after the Olympic Games. Competition begins on August 7 and ends on August 19.

Team Canada begins their competition against host Thailand on Tuesday, August 7 at 5:30 am EST. They will then take on New Zealand on Wednesday, August 8 at 9:30 pm EST. These will be Canada’s lone preliminary games as each group consists of three teams.

The team features six players with past international experience including four players from Canada’s 2005 U21 World Championship bronze medal winning team (Blackwood, Galick, Gallimore, MacDonald) and two players from Canada’s 2005 FISU Games team (McNeill and Shepherd).

"As we finish our training phase in Vancouver we are very excited about the group of players we have assembled to participate in the FISU games in Thailand," stated head coach Chris O'Rourke. "We feel the chemistry is coming together and that we have the tools to make a big impact in Bangkok.”
