QUEBEC KEBS PLEASED WITH WEEKEND OPEN TRYOUT

Last Updated: November 25, 2009

QUEBEC CITY - The Quebec Kebs were so pleased by the talent that turned for an open tryout on Saturday that they plan to invite four or five of the players to the Premier Basketball League (PBL) team's training camp.

The tryout attracted many new faces eager to burst on to the professional basketball scene and several professional players with experience in the PBL and overseas.

The United States was well represented by players from Las Vegas, New York, Vermont, North Carolina and Alabama. Canadian players came from Toronto and Hamilton in Ontario and from Quebec City, Pierrefonds, St-Jean Chrysostome and Montreal in Quebec.

Kebs head coach Alejandro Hasbani pronounced himself "very pleased with the results" of the tryout.

Among the players trying out were Cordell Jeanty and Alexandre Prophète who had previously played for the Kebs and a few surprise players like Justin Darlington -- aka Jus Fly -- from Toronto and Lansen Leach who played for the Augusta Groove in the PBL.

Kebs president Raymond Boisvert was happy to see a mix of seasoned players and some exciting new talent on the court.

"I am extremely impressed by one or two of the new players out there," Boisvert said. "I think they have the right skills and just need a little guidance to develop them."

The PBL season begins in January with nine teams:

Buffalo Stampede (N.Y.)
Halifax Rainmen
Lawton-Fort Sill Cavalry (Okla.)
Manchester Millrats (N.H.)
Maryland GreenHawks
Puerto Rico Capitanes
Quebec Kebs
Rochester RazorSharks (N.Y.)
Vermont Frost Heaves
