TRIANO AND NASH SET TO CARRY OLYMPIC TORCH

Last Updated: December 23, 2009

TORONTO - Jay Triano has joined the long list of Canadian Olympians to carry the Vancouver 2010 torch.

The Toronto Raptors head coach and former Canadian men's basketball team player and coach will run a leg of the Olympic torch relay Thursday in Toronto.

The 51-year-old Triano spent 11 years as a player on Canada's national team and another six as its head coach, leading Canada to a seventh-place finish at the 2000 Olympics.

He holds the distinction of being the first Canadian head coach in the NBA.

NBA star Steve Nash, who played for Triano on the national team, is among the list of athletes slated to carry the torch during its Canadian journey.
