My son/daughter is looking for a place to play basketball?
Canada Basketball does not run programs directly for children. However, our provincial members run a variety of effective community and grassroots programs. We would suggest that you contact your respective provincial basketball association and they will direct you to an appropriate program in your local area. A link to your local provincial basketball association’s website can be found on the top right of the website under the title, “Member Teams Quick Link”.
I am interested in playing in a league in Canada – can you provide me with information?
Unfortunately, Canada does not have a professional domestic league. You might want to look into leagues in Europe, Australia, or the United States. You can find further information by visiting
www.FIBA.com
I am looking to play professionally overseas and require a player’s licence/clearance from Canada Basketball. What do I need to do?
Canada Basketball, as a member of FIBA, is responsible to ensure that players wishing to play in a professional league overseas receive the necessary clearances in order to play.
To receive this clearance you must apply for an International Players Licence, and pay the necessary fee ($110.00). You can download the application for an International Players Licence from our website by clicking
here.
To receive clearance, this form must be completed, and submitted to the Canada Basketball national office with the necessary fee. Please allow up to 10 days for the licence to be processed.
I am interested in playing/ trying out for the National Team. What information can you provide me with?
Canada Basketball conducts National Teams at four levels:
Senior – Open age group
Development – Any athlete in college or university or any athlete who is one year removed from attending college or university.
Young – Under-21 or Under-22 (depending on the year)
Junior – Under-19 or Under-20 (depending on the year)
Normally tryouts are held in the May-June timeframe. More detailed information regarding tryouts and training schedules will be made available on our website as the tryout dates become confirmed.

I want to take a coaching course?
Canada Basketball supports the National Coaching Certification Program (NCCP). However the Level 1, 2, and 3 coaching courses are run by each of the respective provincial basketball associations. I would suggest you contact them directly to find out when the next course might be offered in your area. A link to your local provincial basketball association’s website can be found on the top right of the website under the title, “Member Teams Quick Link”.
My NCCP certification has not been updated and/or the information on it is not correct. Who can I speak to?
The NCCP database is coordinated by the Coaching Association of Canada (CAC). You can check your certification by logging onto the CAC website at
www.coach.ca and clicking on the “Check Certification” box on the top navigation bar.
To submit a change of address or to receive a replacement coaching card or to clarify your certification status, please contact the CAC via:
