Development Women's National Team Wins Opening Exhibition Game

Toronto, ON - The Development Women's National Team won their first game of the China exhibition tour, beating the Czech Republic 82-55.

"This was a great win, the first of our summer season. It was a typical sloppy first game but we had good intensity at key points in the game which helped us to win," said Head Coach Fabian McKenzie.

Canada was led by a number of key contributors in the win. Shay Colley scored 14 points with two rebounds while Adut Bulgak logged a double-double with 13 points and 11 rebounds.

Team Canada won every quarter, highlighted by the 20-6 first period.

"It felt good to be out there, playing as a team. We worked hard and had some sloppy moments but really pushed through those moments. Our defensive effort made a difference tonight," said Shay Colley, who will join the Women'sNational Team in preparation for the TORONTO 2015 Pan Am Games.

Next, Canada plays China on June 23 at 7:00 a.m. EST.
