TORONTO, Ont. (July 13, 2022) – Canada Basketball and Flair Airlines formed an exciting new partnership during the GLOBL JAM FIVES international basketball showcase, which saw Canada’s everyday low fare airline become the Official Airline Partner of the tournament.

“GLOBL JAM provided Canada Basketball with many new and exciting ways to engage basketball fans across the country, and our partnership with Flair Airlines delivered on all objectives,” said Michael Bartlett, President & CEO of Canada Basketball.  “Whether it be in the arena, or watching the broadcast, Flair Airlines helped deliver and celebrate memorable moments throughout the week and we are excited to build more concepts together in the future.”

Last week, GLOBL JAM FIVES shined an international spotlight on the game’s rising stars and featured women’s and men’s teams from around the world competing in an Under-23 tournament live at Mattamy Athletic Centre and broadcast nationally on Sportsnet.  Canada’s U23 women's national team won gold in the inaugural tournament, while Canada's U23 men’s national team lost in the semifinals to the United States.  The Brazilian men's national team captured gold in the last game of the tournament on Sunday, July 10.

Throughout GLOBL JAM, fans in the arena had the chance to take a “Shot from the Dot” on-court for their chance to win a year's worth of free flights to more than 30 Canadian and North American Flair Airlines destinations.  There were a number of shots which hit the rim, but nobody won the grand prize.  Flair Airlines is producing a similar program at all CEBL games across the country, as it looks to connect Canadian basketball fans with their next memorable experience.

“Our partnership with Canada Basketball and GLOBL JAM was built upon a shared belief that affordable air travel is the best way to connect our basketball nation,” said Nelson Phillips, VP of Marketing of Flair Airlines. “It is our purpose to provide basketball players of all ages, and their families, with opportunities to travel to their next training camp, game or tournament as Canada enters a golden era for the game. We would like to congratulate the Canadian women’s team for their first-place finish and also recognize the Canadian men for a hard fought tournament.”

Canada Basketball, in partnership with Sportsnet, launched GLOBL JAM to continue growing the game of basketball here in Canada.  As the exclusive broadcast home of GLOBL JAM, Sportsnet’s coverage also featured “Today’s High Flyer”' throughout the tournament week on Sportsnet and SN NOW.

Flair Airlines also provided special offers to fans of Team Canada who were watching the games on Sportsnet, through the broadcast integration of a QR code, providing fare discounts for future travel.

Fans can expect more exciting collaborations between Canada Basketball and Flair Airlines, in the coming months.
