Kadre Gray and Ruth Davis are our Canada Basketball Toyota Canada Players of the Week for May 23-29.
Great start to the CEBL season with the Fraser Valley Bandits for Gray, leading his team to a 2-0 record averaging 17 points, 4 rebounds, 6 assists, and 2 steals with 8 FTA/G. At Laurentian University (U SPORTS), Gray became one of the most decorated Canadian University basketball players of all time earning 10 major university sport awards and averaged 25.6 points, 7.0 rebounds and 5.9 assists per game with the Voyageurs. The Toronto, ON guard represented Canada at the 2019 World University Games in Italy and most recently at the 2022 FIBA AmeriCup Qualifier in Puerto Rico.
In her first game with the Lakeside Lightning (Australian State League), Davis (Hamblin) scored 24 points (12/18 FG) while adding 18 rebounds (6 offensive), 2 steals and 4 blocks. The 6'6" forward from Houstan, BC attended Oregon State University (NCAA) and was drafted in Round 2, 18th overall in the 2016 WNBA Draft by the Dallas Wings. Davis has played 7 years and over 80 games with Team Canada and most recently represented the maple leaf at the FIBA Women’s World Cup Qualifiers in Osaka this past February, and last summer represented Canada with the Senior Women’s 3x3 National Team.
