Kennedy, Alexander Named Toyota Canada Players of the Week

TORONTO, Ont. (Feb. 13, 2024) - Thomas Kennedy and Kayla Alexander have been named the Toyota Canada Players of the Week for Feb. 12-16.

Thomas Kennedy is having a solid performance overseas, playing for Telekomm Baskets Bonn in Germany. He led his team to two big wins over this past week, averaging 15 points, six rebounds, and two assists per game, shooting 80% from the field. His steady performances earned him easyCredit BBL Player of the Week honours as well. Kennedy has a lot of basketball experience in Canada, playing for Team Canada, the CEBL, and USports.

After a rollercoaster of a trip to Sopron, Hungary, for the FIBA Olympic Qualifying Tournament, the Senior Women’s National Team (SWNT) punched their ticket to the 2024 Paris Olympics. After going 1-2 in tournament play, their Olympic fate rested on Spain defeating Hungary. With a 22-point comeback and a one-point victory by Spain, the SWNT were through. Throughout the weekend, one player for Canada shone: Kayla Alexander. Through three games, Alexander averaged a double-double. The Canadian veteran remained a steady presence on the glass, earning her a spot on the FIBA All-Star 5 in Sopron and Toyota Canada Player of the Week honours.
