TORONTO, Ont. (June 6, 2023) - Trae Bell-Haynes and Sami Hill have been named the Toyota Canada Players of the Week for May 29-June 4.

Bell-Haynes scored 10 point son 4-6 shooting, while adding nine assists to lead Buducnost Voli (Montenegro) to their 15th domestic league championship. The Torontonian averaged more than 14 points, eight assists and three rebounds in two games during the week in which he shot 55 per cent from the field — including 44 per cent from three-point range. Bell-Haynes played a pivotal role in helping Canada’s Senior Men’s National Team qualify for the FIBA Men’s Basketball World Cup this summer after starring for the team throughout qualifying windows, including in Window 5 in Edmonton when the team punched their ticket to the World Cup.

Hill earned the start for Canada in the Senior Women’s National Team’s exhibition game against Japan on Friday night in Victoria. The Toronto product had 11 points on 4-9 shooting, to go along with five rebounds, four assists and a block. Hill, who starred for Eigner Angels Nördlingen of the Germany DBBL this winter, helped provide one of the highlights of the night, setting up Yvonne Ejim for a buzzer-beating triple to close the third quarter.
