TORONTO (May 14, 2026) — Canada announced on Friday its roster for the FIBA 3x3 Women’s Series 2026 in Shanghai, China.
Round-robin action begins Saturday, May 16, against Yanjing at 4:15 a.m. ET, followed by Austria at 6:20 a.m. ET. live on CBC Gem and FIBA 3x3 YouTube.
Featured on the roster are Paige Crozon, Katherine Plouffe, Merissah Russell, and Tara Wallack.
Crozon returns to bring a veteran presence and leadership to this Canadian squad. A member of the program since 2019, she has been a prominent face in 3x3 for the red and white, helping Canada win back-to-back FIBA 3x3 Women’s Series titles in 2022 and 2023, and helping Canada earn its first Olympic berth in 3x3 basketball at the Paris 2024 Olympics. She also delivered a strong performance at the 2025 Edmonton Series stop, where she led Canada to an undefeated record and took home MVP honours after finishing with 30 points and 25 rebounds.
Plouffe is one of Canada’s most experienced athletes, with experience in both 5-on-5 and 3x3 action on the national stage. She has also been a part of Canada’s 3x3 program since 2019, helping the team win back-to-back titles in 2022 and 2023. Before her time in 3x3, the Edmonton, Alberta native represented Canada in 5-on-5 action at the 2016 Rio Olympic Games, as well as the 2015 Pan Am Games and FIBA Americas Championship, where she captured gold at both events. She also has an MVP honour to her name from her exceptional play at the FIBA 3x3 Women’s Series opener in Springfield. Plouffe adds size, scoring, rebounding and championship experience.
Russell is a newer addition to the 3x3 scene. She returns after a strong showing in her debut at the 2025 FIBA 3x3 AmeriCup, where Canada earned silver. Russell had an exceptional career at the University of Louisville, appearing in 31 games in her graduate season and finishing her Louisville career tied for 12th in program history with 139 games played. The Ottawa, Ontario native brings fresh energy into the 3x3 pool, while adding high-level NCAA experience.
Wallack brings both 3x3 and 5-on-5 Canada experience. Canada Basketball noted that Wallack was part of Canada’s gold medal-winning team at the 2022 Commonwealth Games, where 3x3 basketball made its debut at the event. The Surrey, British Columbia native has had strong performances with the national team, as well as at the NCAA level with Washington State, bringing a versatile young player to the pool of athletes.
The team will be led by head coach Daniel Ferguson. He began his Canada 3x3 coaching career in 2025 and has worked with both the women’s and men’s programs. He guided the red and white to first-place finishes at the FIBA 3x3 Women’s Series stops in Edmonton and Bordeaux. Ferguson also brings experience as the men’s lead assistant coach with the University of Lethbridge Pronghorns. He brings veteran experience and a winning pedigree to lead this group.
