TORONTO — Canada Basketball announced Tuesday the 14 athletes invited to training camp ahead of the opening window of the FIBA Men’s World Cup 2027 Qualifiers, marking the start of a six-window journey toward the next World Cup in Qatar.

Canada will face the Bahamas on Nov. 28 in Nassau (8:40 p.m. ET), before returning home to play on Dec. 1 at Mattamy Athletic Centre in Toronto (7:10 p.m. ET). The game will stream in Canada on TSN+ and internationally on Courtside1891.

The final 12-player competition roster for each game will be selected from this camp group and confirmed on game day in accordance with FIBA regulations.

This training camp roster includes a strong core of athletes with recent international experience. Marcus Carr, Trae Bell-Haynes, David Muenkat, Jahvon Henry-Blair, Charles Bediako, Thomas Kennedy and Kyle Wiltjer all competed for Canada this past summer at the 2025 FIBA Men’s AmeriCup, where Canada finished fourth.

Bell-Haynes and Kyle Alexander were members of the historic Canadian team that captured bronze at the 2023 FIBA Men’s Basketball World Cup—Canada’s first-ever medal at the event and a landmark moment for the program.

Head coach Nathaniel Mitchell, who will lead Canada during this qualifying window, said he is confident in the group assembled.

“We’re really excited about this roster and what this group can bring to the table,” Mitchell said. “We have players who’ve competed at a high level for Canada, guys who’ve produced and shown they can help us win games."

This window marks the first of six in the 15-month qualification cycle used across all four FIBA regions. Canada’s men’s program enters the campaign following its most successful era, highlighted by bronze at the 2023 World Cup and qualification for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
