‍TORONTO, Ont. (July 4, 2022) – Canada Basketball and Canadian Tire Jumpstart Charities (Jumpstart) announced Monday the three local and regional organizations who will each receive a $10,000 grant to continue making an impact through basketball. 

The announcement was made as part of GLOBL JAM JUMPSTART LEGACY DAY at Regent Park Athletic Grounds. The event marks the official tip-off the inaugural GLOBL JAM, a week-long celebration of basketball in Toronto.

The selected recipients of the Canadian Tire Jumpstart Charities are the National Basketball Youth Mentorship Program (NBYMP), All My Relations and Saskatoon Public Schools Foundation (SPSF).

National Basketball Youth Mentorship Program (NBYMP)

National Basketball Youth Mentorship Program is a non-profit organization that provides youth with strong and valid mentorship from Canadian professional basketball athletes, university athletes, and university / college coaches. The organization also provides professional teachings to youth in the areas of sport psychology, sports nutrition, injury prevention / athletic development, financial literacy, film breakdown (on-court video analysis), academic empowerment, and spiritual development.

‍All My Relations

Located in Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside, All My Relations provides an encouraging space for Indigenous women to get involved in their community. Made up of over 30 Indigenous women from various nations and backgrounds ranging in age from 17 to 40 years, All My Relations provides quality care and support networks that promote and sustain a vibrant and healthy lifestyle, while also preserving their rich cultural heritage, and strengthening the bonds of people through ongoing advocacy.

Saskatoon Public Schools Foundation (SPSF)

Saskatoon Public Schools Foundation is an independent charity working in partnership with Saskatoon Public Schools to support students, schools, and teachers with a focus on literacy, wellness, and innovation while recognizing the vital role that public education plays in our society. SPSF runs several programs to encourage physical activity, including distributing 750 Cheers Crates, a package with activity and nutrition support for those students who need a little extra support over the summer break.

Set to take place in Toronto from July 5-10, GLOBL JAM will shine the international spotlight on the game’s rising stars and feature women’s and men’s teams from around the world competing in an Under-23 tournament live at Mattamy Athletic Centre, broadcast nationally on Sportsnet.
