HAMILTON, Ont. (June 29, 2026) – Canada Basketball announced today the athletes who will attend the Senior Men’s National Team training camp from June 28 to July 6 in Hamilton, Ont., as preparations continue for Window three of the FIBA Men’s Basketball World Cup 2027 Americas Qualifiers games on home soil.
Canada will host Puerto Rico on Friday, July 3 and Jamaica on Monday, July 6 at TD Coliseum in Hamilton, with both games scheduled for 7:00 p.m. ET. live on TSN.
Tickets for both games are on sale now through Ticketmaster.
“Ontario is proud to welcome Canada’s Senior Men’s National Team to Hamilton as they prepare for the FIBA Men’s World Cup qualifiers,” said Neil Lumsden, Ontario’s Minister of Sport. “Events like these showcase our province’s world-class venues, passionate fans and ability to host premier international sport.
“This team reflects an incredible calibre of talent, including standout players from Ontario who are among the best in the world, making it an exciting moment for fans across the province. We’re excited to see Canadians come together to support our national team as they continue their strong run on home court.”
Canada enters the July window with a perfect 4-0 record atop Group B in the FIBA Men’s Basketball World Cup 2027 Americas Qualifiers. The team opened qualification by sweeping a home-and-away series against The Bahamas before earning road victories over Puerto Rico and Jamaica earlier this year.
The FIBA Men’s Basketball World Cup 2027 Americas Qualifiers feature 16 teams competing across six windows. Following the completion of the qualification process, seven nations from the Americas region will earn a berth at the FIBA Men’s Basketball World Cup 2027.
The training camp roster features 11 athletes with NBA experience, including Hamilton native Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, who returns to national team action for the first time since helping Canada compete at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
Since then, Gilgeous-Alexander has earned back-to-back NBA MVP awards and an NBA championship, while cousin Nickeil Alexander-Walker captured NBA Most Improved Player honours during the 2025-26 season.
The roster also includes a strong blend of veteran national team contributors and young emerging talent, highlighted by NBA players Dillon Brooks, Andrew Nembhard, Ryan Nembhard, Kyshawn George and Leonard Miller, alongside experienced FIBA international performers Kassius Robertson, Marcus Carr, Kyle Wiltjer, Mfiondu Kabengele and Khem Birch.
The training camp marks the first competitive window under Senior Men’s National Team Head Coach Gordie Herbert, who was appointed in 2025. Herbert will lead Canada alongside assistant coaches Jama Mahlalela, Nathaniel Mitchell and Hanno Möttölä.
Herbert brings championship pedigree to the Canadian program after leading Germany to its first-ever FIBA Men’s Basketball World Cup title in 2023. That tournament saw Canada secure the best finish in program history, capturing a historic bronze medal and qualifying for its first Olympic Games appearance in 24 years.
Additional information regarding training camp media availability will be announced at a later date.
