Canada Defeats Mexico To Remain Undefeated at FIBA U18 Women's Americas Championship 2018

MEXICO CITY, MEXICO (August 3, 2018) - Team Canada defeated Mexico 65-54 to remain undefeated after group play at the FIBA U18 Women's Americas Championship 2018.

Roxane Makolo led the team in points and rebounds against Mexico, shooting 31% and earning herself a double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds along with 1 steal.

After jumping out to an early 7-2 lead, Canada contained Mexico late in the first quarter and gained the lead heading into the second frame, 17-13.

The high intensity play from Canada continued to find success in the second quarter as Canada pushed the score to 34-19.

Mexico battled back throughout the third but were unable to keep pace with Canada as they sustained their lead and went into the final 10 minutes leading 48-37.  Canada remained ontop in the final quarter of play to seal the victory over Mexico and remain undefeated finishing group play.

With the win, Canada advances to the quarter-finals of the FIBA U18 Women's Americas Championship first in their group at 3-0.  They will now go on to play Chile in the quarter-finals on Sunday August 3rd.
