BAKU, Azerbaijan (May 22, 2025) — Canada Basketball has announced the 3x3 Men’s National Team roster that will represent Canada at the FIBA 3x3 World Cup Qualifier, set for May 24–25 in Baku, Azerbaijan.
Grant Audu, Jérôme Desrosiers, Alex Johnson and Steve Sir will suit up for Canada as the team aims to qualify for this summer’s FIBA 3x3 World Cup 2025, scheduled for June 23–29 in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia. Competing against five other nations, Canada must finish in the top three at the qualifier to secure a World Cup berth.
Canada is grouped in Pool B at the qualifier and will face 42nd-ranked Great Britain (Friday, May 24 at 9:15 a.m. ET / 6:15 a.m. PT) and host nation Azerbaijan, ranked 101st (Friday, May 24 at 11:05 a.m. ET / 8:05 a.m. PT). The top two teams in each pool advance to the semifinals. Both semifinal winners, along with the third-place finisher, will earn spots at the FIBA 3x3 World Cup 2025.
“This group brings a strong mix of experience, toughness and composure — all critical qualities in 3x3,” said Phil Jevtovic, assistant general manager, men’s 3x3 and high-performance analytics. “Steve and Alex bring a steady veteran presence, and We’ve seen what Grant and Jérôme can do on this stage. We’re building off the momentum from the AmeriCup as we continue to grow together as a team and program.
“The standard is high, and so are our expectations. We’re going to Baku with one goal: to earn our spot at the World Cup.”

Audu made his 3x3 national team debut this past winter, helping Canada to a bronze medal at the FIBA 3x3 AmeriCup 2024. He played four seasons with the UBC Thunderbirds (2018–22) before beginning a professional career that included stops with the Vancouver Bandits (CEBL) and in Finland.
Desrosiers also debuted in 2024, representing Canada at both the FIBA 3x3 AmeriCup and the FIBA 3x3 Olympic Qualifying Tournament. He has played on the FIBA 3x3 World Tour with teams from Chicago and Princeton and is currently ranked 62nd in the FIBA 3x3 individual player rankings — the highest among Canadian men.
Sir, a mainstay in the 3x3 program, returns once again. The Edmonton product appeared in 16 events last season with Team Ulaanbaatar, including nine stops on the FIBA 3x3 World Tour, and helped Canada to bronze at the 2024 AmeriCup in San Juan.
Johnson, from Toronto, also brings extensive experience, having represented Canada at the 2024 Olympic Qualifying Tournament. He has played in three FIBA 3x3 AmeriCups and is seeking his first appearance at the World Cup.
Canada’s only previous appearance at the FIBA 3x3 Men’s World Cup came in 2018, where the team finished sixth. Canada is currently ranked 19th in the men’s standings and 13th overall in the FIBA 3x3 Federation Rankings.
