Canada finishes second at FIBA 3x3 Women’s Series opener in Amsterdam

AMSTERDAM — Canada’s 3x3 Women’s National Team opened their 2025 FIBA 3x3 Women’s Series campaign with a silver-medal finish in Amsterdam, falling 20-11 to the host Netherlands in the final.

The Canadian squad impressed throughout the two-day tournament, going undefeated in pool play with wins over Ireland (21-8) and Puerto Rico (21-12) on May 16. Canada followed that up with a 22-14 victory over Czechia in the quarterfinals and a dominant 21-13 semifinal performance against Poland to reach the final.

Veteran forward Katherine Plouffe led all players in player value with a tournament-best 41.5. She also topped the rebounding charts with 28 total boards and finished second in assists (13). Plouffe’s standout game came in pool play against Puerto Rico, where she scored a game-high 11 points and added two rebounds.

Paige Crozon ranked third among all scorers with 29 total points, while Saicha Grant-Allen rounded out Canada’s statistical standouts, placing third in both assists (10) and rebounds (20). Grant-Allen delivered a key performance in the semifinal win over Poland, finishing with nine points and six rebounds.

The team now shifts its focus to upcoming series stops in Vienna and Ulaanbaatar, which will serve as key tune-ups ahead of the 2025 FIBA 3x3 World Cup, also set to take place in Ulaanbaatar, June 23-29.
