TORONTO (August 21, 2025) — Canada Basketball announced Thursday the 12 athletes who will represent the Senior Men’s National Team at the upcoming FIBA Men’s AmeriCup 2025 in Managua, Nicaragua.
Canada opens play Friday, Aug. 22 against Venezuela (5:40 p.m. ET / 2:40 p.m. PT), followed by Panama on Saturday, Aug. 23 (11:10 p.m. ET / 8:10 p.m. PT) and Puerto Rico on Monday, Aug. 25 (11:10 p.m. ET / 8:10 p.m. PT). All games will be played at Polideportivo Alexis Argüello and streamed live on Courtside1891. Quarterfinals begin Aug. 28, semifinals on Aug. 30, and medal games on Aug. 31.
Leonard Miller (Scarborough, Ont.), Kyshawn George (Monthey, Switzerland), Charles Bediako (Brampton, Ont.) and David Muenkat (Brampton, Ont.) are set to make their Senior Men’s National Team debuts. Kyle Wiltjer (Portland, Ore.) returns for the first time since February 2022, adding veteran leadership and scoring ability.
Canada looks to build on its fourth-place finish in 2022 as it chases a first AmeriCup title.
Head coach Nathaniel Mitchell, who made his Senior Men’s National Team Head Coaching debut at the 2022 AmeriCup, will once again be behind the bench. Trae Bell-Haynes (Toronto, Ont.), Jahvon Blair (Brampton, Ont.) and Thomas Kennedy (Windsor, Ont.) also return from that tournament.
