ISTANBUL, Turkey (July 7, 2024) - Canada’s U17 Men’s National Team lost 71-81 to Spain in their final classification game, finishing in 8th place at the FIBA U17 Men’s Basketball World Cup 2024.

Canada went 3-5 during the tournament, finishing 2-1 in group play before passing Argentina in the Round of 16.

In the quarterfinals, they lost to the USA, who were heavy favourites and had won their games by 20 or more points this week.

Jordan Charles, Miles Sadler, and Quinten Ethier led Canada in points per game, each having a breakout game that earned them Drive of the Game Honours.

Stefan Ilic remained a strong presence on the glass, leading the team with 7.4 rebounds per game and being followed by Paul Osaruyi with 6.6 rebounds per game.

Canada’s 8th-place finish builds on their last appearance at the World Cup in 2022, where they finished 9th.
