CALGARY— Mom was a basketball player. Dad, at age 53, remains a rower. So how did Dougie and Freddie Hamilton, the sons of two non-hockey-playing Olympians, end up anchoring penalty kills for Canada’s entry at this world junior championship?

It certainly wasn't because they inherited their father's ceaseless passion for the national winter sport.

As Doug Hamilton, a bronze medallist in quadruple heavy sculls at the 1984 Los Angeles Games, conceded Monday, on the eve of Canada's semifinal game: “I don't really like watching hockey.”
