TORONTO, ONT. (June 13, 2022) – Canada Basketball announced Monday the U18 Women’s National Team roster for the upcoming FIBA U18 Women’s Americas Championship 2022.

The FIBA U18 Women’s Americas Championship 2022 will be held June 13-19, 2022 at the Obras Sanitarias Stadium in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

Canada is in Group A along with Mexico (June 13, 5:00 PM ET), Brazil (June 14, 5:00 PM ET) and the hosts Argentina (June 15, 7:30 PM ET).  Fans can catch all the action streaming live on FIBA YouTube.

Three players on the roster have previous experience representing Canada as Lemyah Hylton and Emma Koabel played last summer at the FIBA U19 Women’s Basketball World Cup 2021, while Fatima Diakhaté is back in the red and white for the first time since making her national team debut at the FIBA U16 Women’s Americas Championship 2019.

Head Coach Steve Baur will lead Canada alongside assistant coaches Tamara Tatham and Marlo Davis, as well as Apprentice Coach/Team Manager, Isabel Ormond.

The top four teams from the FIBA U18 Women’s Americas Championship 2022 will qualify for the FIBA U19 Women’s Basketball World Cup 2023.

Prior to departing for Argentina, Canada held a selection camp with 14 athletes at Humber College from May 30-June 8, 2022.

As a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, this will be the first FIBA U18 Women’s Americas Championship since 2018 where Canada captured silver in Mexico City.

Canada is currently ranked 8th overall in the FIBA women's age-group rankings, presented by Nike.
