TORONTO (July 9, 2025) — Canada Basketball announced Wednesday that Carly Clarke has been named head coach of Canada’s U23 Women’s National Team for GLOBL JAM 2025.

Clarke returns to the U23 bench after leading Canada to gold at the inaugural GLOBL JAM in 2022. She is coming off a bronze-medal finish this past weekend as an assistant coach with the Senior Women’s National Team at the FIBA Women’s AmeriCup 2025, continuing her strong presence across all levels of Canada’s high-performance program.

The tournament will run August 13–17 at TMU’s Mattamy Athletic Centre. Single session tickets are on sale now at globljam.ca, starting at less than $21 per game.

"It’s special to have Carly back leading our U23 team,” said Steve Baur, General Manager and Vice-President, Women’s High-Performance. “She’s a proven winner, having guided Canada to gold at the inaugural GLOBL JAM, and one of the top minds in the international game. To have her coaching this group once again on her home court at TMU makes this summer’s tournament even more meaningful."

Clarke holds one of the most decorated international coaching resumes in Canadian basketball.

She has served as an assistant coach at two Olympic Games — Tokyo 2020 and Paris 2024 — a milestone few in Canadian basketball have reached. Her leadership and tactical expertise have helped guide the Senior Women’s National Team through the highest level of international competition on the sport’s biggest stage.

She is also the only coach to lead Canada to multiple medals at the FIBA U19 Women’s World Cup, capturing bronze in both 2017 and 2023. Clarke previously guided the U17 women’s team to bronze at the 2012 FIBA U17 World Championship in Amsterdam.

“It’s always an honour to represent Canada, and I’m incredibly excited to return to GLOBL JAM and lead this group on home soil,” said Clarke. “There’s something really special about competing in front of a Canadian crowd, especially at TMU where I’ve spent so much of my coaching career. This tournament means a lot to our program, and we’re looking forward to chasing another GLOBL JAM title together.”

At the university level, Clarke was named U SPORTS Coach of the Year in 2021–22, leading TMU to a perfect season and the program’s first national title — just the second national championship in the school’s athletic history.

She has also served as head coach of the World Select Team at the Nike Hoop Summit for the past three years — the only years women have been featured in the event.
