TORONTO, Ontario (May 14, 2024) - Melvin Ejim and Kia Nurse have been named the Toyota Canada Players of the Week for May 13-17.

Last week, Unicaja Malaga finished the regular season at the top of the ACB league in Spain with a 28-6 record and the best offensive and defensive team. Toronto product and Senior Men’s National Team veteran Melvin Ejim averaged 13 points and four rebounds over the week, including a 22-point performance where we went 8-9 from the field and shot 100 percent from three. Unicaja Malaga went 2-0 during this time to close out the regular season on a high note ahead of the playoffs.

Coming off of the success of the second-ever WNBA Canada Game in Edmonton, Kia Nurse returned to consistency on the basketball court. Set to debut her seventh year in the WNBA this week, Nurse played in her first preseason with her new team, the LA Sparks. In a win over the Phoenix Mercury, Nurse scored eight points on 3-4 shooting from the field, making all of her three-point shots. The two-time Olympian with the Senior Women’s National Team has the chance to make three appearances at the Olympic Games this summer.
