Johnson, Crozon named Toyota Canada Players of the Week

TORONTO, Ont. (Dec. 4, 2023) - Alex Johnson and Paige Crozon have been named the Toyota Canada Players of the Week for Nov. 27-Dec. 3.

Suiting for Canada once again, Johnson led the 3x3 Men’s National Team in scoring this past weekend at the FIBA 3x3 AmeriCup 2023 in San Juan, Puerto Rico. Johnson averaged 6.3 points per game for Canada, who had their hopes of AmeriCup glory dashed after a heartbreaking loss to Brazil in quarter-final action. Johnson, who hails from Toronto, finished second in the event with eight two-pointers. The NC State Wolfpack last suited up for Canada at the FIBA 3x3 AmeriCup 2022, before helping win the country a gold medal in 3x3 that summer at the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, England.

Crozon put a bow on a sensational season with the 3x3 Women’s National Team, helping Canada finish on the podium at the FIBA 3x3 AmeriCup 2023. Crozon came up clutch in the third-place game, single-handedly outscoring Chile with 13 points in a 21-8 Canada win to help the squad bring home bronze. She finished second in scoring with 35 points at the event with her 10 two-pointers were the most at the AmeriCup, shooting the ball at a tremendous 42 per cent clip from beyond-the-arc. The Humboldt, Sask. product was a part of five FIBA 3x3 Women’s Series Stop wins this season, before helping Canada get it done in September in the Women’s Series Final for the second-straight season.
