TORONTO (October 22, 2025) - Mfiondu Kabengele and Shaina Pellington have been named The Keg Size Players of the Week for October 13 - October 19, presented by The Keg.
Burlington, Ont., native Mfiondu Kabengele continues to make his presence felt for the Dubai Basketball Club, a professional team competing in both the ABA League and EuroLeague. Kabengele helped lead Dubai to a strong week, extending the team’s winning streak to four games with key performances across three matchups from Oct. 14–19. His standout showing came on Oct. 14 against reigning EuroLeague champions Fenerbahçe Istanbul, where the 6-foot-10 center recorded 26 points and seven rebounds on 72.7 per cent shooting. Over the week, Kabengele averaged eight points and 10 rebounds per game, providing consistency and energy on both ends of the floor. Kabengele last represented Canada at the FIBA Men's AmeriCup 2025, where he was the team’s scoring and rebounding leader, averaging 17 points and 9.8 rebounds per game.
Another Canadian making her mark overseas is Shaina Pellington, the 5’6” scoring point guard for Dynamo Novosibirsk Region, a professional women’s basketball club in Novosibirsk, Russia. Hailing from Pickering, Ont., Pellington showcased her scoring prowess with 26 points, three rebounds, and seven assists on 57.1% shooting, leading her team to a victory over Neftyanik Almetyevsk on October 17. She also impressed in the previous matchup on October 13, recording 20 points, six rebounds, and eight assists, laying the groundwork for her standout performance later in the week. Pellington last represented Canada at the FIBA Women’s AmeriCup in June where the Senior Women’s National Team finished third.
