Kia Nurse Named Aac Preseason Player of the Year

Congrats to SWNT player Kia Nurse for being named AAC Preseaon player of the Year and the Nancy Libeberman award watch list.

The four-time defending national champion UConn Huskies may not be the preseason No. 1 team in the country, but Geno Auriemma's team remains the class of the American Athletic Conference.

The Huskies, who lost their three best players to graduation, were tabbed as the preseason favorite by the conference coaches at the league's annual Media Day Monday. UConn was the unanimous pick to win the conference, garnering all 10 of 11 first-place votes. Coaches cannot vote for their team, so Geno Auriemma's vote went to USF.

Temple was picked to finish second, followed by USF, Tulane and SMU.

UConn junior guard Kia Nurse was named preseason Player of the Year. Nurse started every game for the NCAA champion Huskies last season and is coming off a summer with the Canadian Olympic team.
