Kyle Wiltjer and Natalie Achonwa have been selected as the Toyota Players of the Week for Oct. 26-November 1.

Kyle Wiltjer, a forward for Türk Telekom in Turkish BSL, made quite the impact in the opening round of Basketball Champions League on October 27. The 28-year-old played an explosive game, scoring 33 points, grabbing five rebounds and dishing out four assists. He also shot 69% from the field including 4/8 3PT and 11 FTA. His team currently sits in the top spot of the Champions League power rankings and third in the Turkish BSL standings with a 6-1 record. Wiltjer was previously named the Toyota Player of the Week just a few weeks ago for his performance in early October. He first represented Canada at the 2010 FIBA Americas U18 Championship for Men and most recently appeared in the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2019 in China.

In her first game with Famila Schio, Natalie Achonwa helped secure an 85-78 win over Bologna to earn POTW honours. The Guelph, ON native scored 12 points, added nine rebounds and led her team with five assists and three steals. The WNBA star recently completed her fifth season with the Indiana Fever before heading overseas to play in Italy. Achonwa has been a member of the Senior Women’s National Team program for the past decade after making history as the youngest player ever selected at age 16. Since then, she’s made two Olympic appearances at London 2012 and Rio 2016, and won gold at the 2015 Pan American Games in Toronto. Most recently, she helped Canada earn a Tokyo 2020 Olympic berth at the FIBA Olympic Qualifying Tournament in February, where she was also selected to the tournament All-Star Five.

Canada Basketball’s Player of the Week is sponsored by Toyota.
