Lee, Potter named Toyota Canada Players of the Week

TORONTO, Ont. (Jan. 9, 2024) - Xaivian Lee and Emily Potter have been named the Toyota Canada Players of the Week for Jan. 8-12.

Conference play is underway for NCAA basketball, and Xaivian Lee got things started with a dominant 33 points, eight rebounds, and seven assists in Princeton’s win over Harvard on Saturday. The Toronto native was everywhere on the court, with quick passes to his teammates, getting to the rim and hitting five threes to seal the 89-58 victory. It is Lee’s second 30+ point performance of the 2023-24 NCAA season as Princeton improves to 13-1 and first in the Ivy League.

After a tough start to the WNBL year, the Perth Lynx are back on track, following a big performance from Emily Potter to get the 84-68 win against the Adelaide Lightning. Potter, the SWNT member from Winnipeg, Manitoba, led with 26 points, 11 rebounds, and two assists. Her team was plus-17 in the 22 minutes that she played. Potter was part of the Senior Women’s National Team that won Bronze for Canada in the 2023 FIBA Women’s Americup, where she made crucial free throws in the first half to keep Canada in front.
