Luguentz Dort and Nayo Raincock-Ekunwe named Toyota Players of the Week for April 12-18

Luguentz Dort and Nayo Raincock-Ekunwe have been selected as the Toyota Players of the Week for April 12-18.

Dort had an incredible three game stretch where he averaged 32 points, 6 rebounds, 3 steals, and 2 assists, while also shooting a remarkable 56% from 3PT on 9 3PA/g.  The Montreal native spent one year with the Arizona State Sun Devils where he was named Pac-12 Conference Freshman of the Year and earned second-team All-Pac-12 Conference honours.  The 6’3, 215 lbs shooting guard / small forward signed a two-way contract with the Oklahoma City Thunder following the 2019 NBA Draft.  In just his second season in the NBA, the 21-year-old is averaging career-highs in points (14.0), rebounds (3.7) and assists (1.6).  Dort last represented Canada in exhibition action against China ahead of the third window of the FIBA Basketball World Cup Americas Qualifiers 2019.

Raincock-Ekunwe scored a team-high 13 points (5/6 FG), while also adding 8 rebounds and 2 assists, as Lyon defeated Flammes 66-58 in Ligue Féminine de Basketball (LFB) action.  With the victory, Lyon now sits second in the LFB with a 17-5 record.  Raincock-Ekunwe, who was born in Toronto before moving to British Columbia, attended Simon Fraser University where she was named GNAC Player of the Year and a first-team all-star in her senior season.  The 6’2” power forward returned to France this year after spending last season in Russia with Nadezhda Orenburg.  This will be her ninth season with Team Canada as she prepares for her second Olympic games.  Raincock-Ekunwe was a member of the Canadian team that went undefeated at the FIBA Women’s Olympic Qualifying Tournament last year in Ostend, Belgium.
