Miller, Howell named Players of the Week

TORONTO (July 23, 2025) – Leonard Miller and Avery Howell have been named Players of the Week for July 14 - 20.

Leonard Miller, a 6’11” shooting guard from Scarborough, Ont. has delivered impressive performances on both ends of the floor in his last two performances with the Minnesota Timberwolves at NBA Summer League. Averaging 21 points and 10 rebounds over those games, Miller helped lead the team to back-to-back wins. Selected 33rd overall in the 2023 NBA Draft, Miller currently plays a rotation role for the Minnesota Timberwolves, while also suiting up for their G League affiliate, the Iowa Wolves. Showcasing his size, skill, and dominance throughout Summer League play, Miller continues to solidify his status as one of Canada’s top basketball prospects. Leonard Miller last represented Team Canada at the inaugural GLOBL JAM tournament in 2022.

Standing at 5’11", 19-year-old Avery Howell delivered a standout performance at the FIBA U19 Women’s World Cup in Brno, Czechia. Her sharpshooting ability was on full display as she ranked 4th in three-point percentage across the tournament and dropped 26 points in a dominant group stage win over China. Over the course of the competition, Avery hit 18 three-pointers, shooting an impressive 48.6% from beyond the arc. Named to the All-Star Second Team, she was Canada’s second-leading scorer, averaging 14.1 points and 3.4 rebounds per game. Although Team Canada fell short of the podium, Howell consistently came through in clutch moments to help power a deep playoff run.
