Morgan, Potter named Toyota Canada Players of the Week

TORONTO, Ont. (Oct. 18, 2023) - Conor Morgan and Emily Potter have been named the Toyota Canada Players of the Week for Oct. 9-15.

Morgan had a dominant week with the London Lions (England), helping his team to back-to-back victories with consecutive 17-point performances. The UBC alumnus hauled in 8.5 rebounds per game in the respective wins over Cheshire Phoenix and Hamburg Towers, while shooting 55.6 per cent from the free throw line. The Victoria, B.C. product last represented Canada in Window 5 of the FIBA Men’s Basketball World Cup 2023 Qualifiers, helping the Senior Men’s National Team reach the World Cup with an Americas-best 11-1 record.

Potter is off to a strong start in her first season with the Perth Lynx. The Utah alumna and product of Winnipeg helped her team to a 3-0 record in the River City Rebound — a preseason tournament held in Brisbane ahead of the 2023-24 WNBL season. Potter’s 20-point performance — on 7-12 shooting — helped the Lynx upend the reigning WNBL Champion Townsville Fire by a score of 86-80. Potter averaged 13 points and 5.7 rebounds per game in the tournament. She last suited up for Canada this past summer at the FIBA Women’s AmeriCup 2023 in Lyon, Mexico, helping the Senior Women’s National Team win bronze and earn a ticket to this November’s FIBA Women’s Olympic Pre-Qualifying Tournament.
