Ontario completed a golden Saturday at the 2026 Canada Basketball U15 and U17 Men’s National Championships, capturing both titles in Regina, Saskatchewan.

Ontario defeated Quebec 103-61 to secure its fifth consecutive U15 men’s national championship before completing the men’s sweep with a dramatic 75-68 overtime victory over Quebec in the U17 final.

Nova Scotia and British Columbia also finished the tournament on the podium, claiming bronze in the U15 and U17 men’s divisions, respectively.

NOTEWORTHY

Ontario delivered a dominant performance in the U15 men’s gold-medal game, shooting 46.7 per cent from the field while holding Quebec to 28.1 per cent in a 103-61 victory. Tournament MVP Myles Johnson led Ontario with 20 points, 10 rebounds, three assists and three steals on 10-of-12 shooting. Tyson Darko added 18 points, six rebounds, four assists and three steals.

Ontario and Quebec met in the U15 men’s final for the fourth consecutive year, with Ontario winning all four championship meetings. Saturday’s victory also secured Ontario’s fifth straight U15 men’s national title, extending a championship run that began in 2022.

The victory was part of an Ontario sweep of the U15 national titles, with the province’s U15 women also capturing gold in Sherbrooke.

The U17 men’s final delivered a thrilling finish. After Ontario entered the fourth quarter with a six-point advantage, Quebec battled back and Ezekiel Ifejeh tied the game at 65 with a late layup to force overtime. Ontario took control in the extra period, outscoring Quebec 10-3 to secure a 75-68 victory.

Tournament MVP Jordan Fisher powered Ontario in the U17 final with 20 points, seven rebounds, six blocks and four steals. Kenyon St. Louis added 15 points, nine rebounds and five assists, while Kaleb Banfield contributed 13 points on 6-of-9 shooting.

The victory marked Ontario’s third consecutive U17 men’s title at the National Championships following wins in 2023 and 2024. The U17 National Championships were not held in 2025 because of the Canada Summer Games.

Nova Scotia defeated Manitoba 68-60 to capture U15 bronze, earning its first medal in the division since 2018, when the province also claimed bronze. Mason MacRae led the way with 30 points and six three-pointers, while Kinnon Lohnes delivered an all-around performance with 19 points, 11 rebounds, five steals and four assists.

For the second consecutive year, British Columbia captured bronze in U17 men’s competition following a commanding 112-82 victory over Alberta. British Columbia also earned bronze at the 2025 Canada Summer Games. Iia Maydan dropped 30 points on 14-of-24 shooting, while Mateo Ducheck added 19 points and 10 rebounds.
