Opening Day Delivers at the 2026 U15/U17 Women's National Championships
THE RUNDOWN
The opening day of basketball action at the 2026 U15/U17 National Championships is in the books, as 12 games across both U15 and U17 women’s divisions took place Bishop’s University in Sherbrooke, Que. on Monday.
NOTEWORTHY
- New Brunswick opened its U17 campaign with a convincing win over Manitoba, powered by a 25-point performance from Abby Peterson, who led all scorers in the morning matchup.
- Newfoundland and Labrador rallied from a second-half deficit to edge Nova Scotia 69-65 in U15 action. Lauren Gillis starred on both ends of the floor, finishing with 26 points and five steals to help seal the comeback victory.
- The host province made the most of its home-court advantage as Quebec cruised past Manitoba in U17 women's action. Five different players reached double figures in scoring in a balanced offensive performance.
- Saskatchewan rolled past Prince Edward Island 78-35 in U15 women's action behind a dominant outing from Araya Levy, who recorded 24 points and 11 rebounds.
