Oshae Brissett and Nirra Fields Named Toyota Canada Players of the Week for April 4 to 10

Oshae Brissett and Nirra Fields have been selected as the Toyota Players of the Week for the week of April 4th to 10th.

In İzmit Belediyespor’s (Turkey) win over Hatay, Fields scored 37 points while adding 16 rebounds and 4 steals. Fields was named a McDonald’s All-American, becoming the first female Canadian to earn this honour, and attended UCLA (NCAA) for college. Fields was drafted 32nd overall in the 2016 WNBA draft and played one season with the Phoenix Mercury (WNBA) before beginning a professional career in Europe. The 5’7” guard has played over 100 games for Team Canada, most recently competing with the Senior Women’s National Team last summer at the FIBA Women’s AmeriCup 2021 and at the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games, and earlier this year helped Canada qualify for the FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup 2022.

Brissett finished the NBA season on a high note with the Indiana Pacers, averaging 17 points, 7 rebounds, and 3 assists in his last three games of the season (including a 28 points, 8 rebound game against the Nets in the last game of the regular season on April 10th). The 6’8” small forward from Mississauga, ON attended Syracuse University (NCAA) and spent time with the Toronto Raptors (NBA) for two seasons before being selected 21st overall in the 2021 NBA G League draft where he played 12 games with the Fort Wayne Mad Ants. This past season, Brissett signed a 3-year contract with the Indiana Pacers. Brissett most recently represented Team Canada at the 2019 Pre-World Cup Exhibition games.
