Registration open for 2023 Alberta Basketball Hoop City 3x3 Championships

EDMONTON (May 26, 2023) - Registration is officially open for the 2023 ABA Hoop City 3x3 Championships, July 29 & 30.  The Fan Park @ ICE District will welcome 100 teams from across the province to compete in Alberta Basketball Association’s Hoop City 3x3 Tournament and annual 3x3 Provincial Championships.   

Amateur youth and adult teams are invited to register for this unique opportunity to compete at the iconic Ice District in the longest-running competition of its kind.  All skill levels are welcome, with recreational and elite categories available including wheelchair and co-ed teams.  Teams will have a minimum of four games, the chance to take part in a 2-point shootout competition, and be able to watch some of the best 3x3 pro athletes from around the world compete for Olympic qualifying points in the FIBA 3x3 World Tour and FIBA 3x3 Women’s Series happening at the same time, July 28-30.  

The ABA Hoop City 3x3 Championships is the next exciting step in the growth of this new Olympic sport. Players of all ages and abilities will have a great time competing at the Fan Park @ Ice District and then will head over to the Ice District Plaza to watch the best 3x3 Olympic calibre players in the world. We look forward to a fun weekend of playing outdoors in the heart of Edmonton for Canada’s premier summer basketball festival!' – Paul Sir, Executive Director, Alberta Basketball Association.

Basketball will take over Edmonton’s downtown core when the greatest 3x3 athletes return to Edmonton this summer for the 2023 FIBA 3x3 World Tour & the FIBA 3x3 Women’s Series, July 28-30. Hoop City 3x3 will run in conjunction with the World Tour & Women’s Series for an incredible three days of basketball for spectators, friends, and families to enjoy.   

Hoop City, FIBA 3x3 World Tour & FIBA 3x3 Women’s Series is a collaborative effort of the City of Edmonton, Explore Edmonton, Canada Basketball and Alberta Basketball Association.
