RJ Barrett and Bridget Carleton Named Toyota Canada's Players of the Week for October 25-31

RJ Barrett and Bridget Carleton have been selected as the Toyota Players of the Week for October 25-31.

Barrett had a big week leading the New York Knicks to three wins averaging 22 points, 6 rebounds, 3 assists and shooting 56% from the field (including 60% from 3 point-line). The 6’6” forward also scored a career high 35 points on Oct 30th against the New Orleans Pelicans. Barrett was drafted third overall by the Knicks at the 2019 NBA Draft after spending one season with Duke University. As a high-school recruit, the Mississauga, ON native was named the Naismith Prep Player of the Year, Gatorade Player of the Year and hit the court in the McDonald’s All-American All-Star Game. He helped guide Canada to a gold medal at the 2017 FIBA U19 World Cup, where he was named the tournament’s MVP and to the All-Star Five. Most recently, Barrett suited up for Team Canada at the FIBA Olympic Qualifying Tournament this past summer in Victoria, BC.

In Ramat’s Hasharon’s (Israel) latest game, Carleton led the team with 20 points, while also adding 4 rebounds, a steal and a block. The Chatham, ON native played for Iowa State University (NCAA) where she had the best single-season in ISU history and earned Big 12 Player of the Year honours. With her WNBA debut in 2019, this past season Carleton averaged 6.5 points, and 3.6 rebounds per game with the Minnesota Lynx. Having played over 80 games for Team Canada over the past 8 years, the 6’1” guard most recently competed with the FIBA Women's Olympic Qualifying Tournament team that went 3-0 and secured Canada’s third consecutive Olympic appearance, which allowed Carleton to make her Olympic debut with Canada this past summer in Tokyo.
