Rowe, Alexander named Toyota Canada Players of the Week

TORONTO, Ont. (July 10, 2023) - Jackson Rowe and Kayla Alexander have been named the Toyota Canada Players of the Week for July 3-9.

Rowe had a pair of standout games fro the Ottawa BlackJacks in the CEBL, including a 26-point performance against the Vancouver Bandits on July 9. Rowe’s team-high 26 came via 11-15 shooting, including a perfect 4-4 from beyond-the-arc. In the game previous, he recorded a double-double in a BlackJack win over the Saskatchewan Rattlers with 15 points and 10 rebounds. Rowe last represented Canada in Window 6 of the FIBA Men’s Basketball World Cup Qualifiers 2023, when he suited up against Argentina and Venezuela.

Alexander capped off her FIBA Women’s AmeriCup 2023 with 13 points and 19 rebounds in Canada’s bronze medal game win over Puerto Rico. It was a dominant tournament for Alexander, who shined on both ends of the floor averaging 1.0 points and 12.3 rebounds per game. Thanks to the showing in Léon, Mexico, the Milton, Ont. product Alexander was named to the 2023 FIBA AmeriCup Women’s All-Star 5. A long time member of the Senior Women’s National Team, Alexander reprised her role with the program at the tournament after also being a part of Canada’s fourth-place finish at the FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup 2022 this past fall.
