TORONTO (May 4, 2026) – Canada Basketball has announced the return of the U15 and U17 men’s and women’s national championships this summer, showcasing the country’s top young athletes representing their provinces and territories.
Hosted by Basketball Saskatchewan Inc. and Basketball Québec, the events will run Aug. 3-8.
The women’s tournament will take place at Bishop’s University Sports Centre in Sherbrooke, Que., while the men’s competition will be held at the Centre for Kinesiology, Health and Sport in Regina, Sask.
Provincial and territorial teams from across Canada will come together to compete for the title of national champions.
“We’re excited to have Saskatchewan and Quebec host this year’s U15 and U17 national championships,” said Ron Yeung, Vice-President, Domestic Programs and Strategy at Canada Basketball. “These championships are a pillar event for our organization and continue to set the standard for competition at this age group. Each year, our National Championships provide a platform for the next generation of athletes to compete, represent their provinces and territories, and be part of what is always an exciting summer for basketball in Canada.”
Last summer, Team Ontario swept gold in the U15 division, defending their 2024 titles, while Team Alberta did the same at the U17 level at the 2025 Canada Summer Games. Alberta’s U17 men claimed their first national championship with a 72-69 win over Ontario, while the women’s team successfully defended its 2022 title.
All games will be live streamed on Canada Basketball’s YouTube channel. Fans in Saskatchewan and Quebec are encouraged to catch the action in person, in what promises to be a top-tier basketball event.
The Canada Basketball U15 and U17 national championships are among the country’s premier amateur sport events. Each summer, Canada’s top high-performance athletes at the U15 and U17 level compete for the national title while proudly representing their home province or territory.
