Scrubb, Ahlstrom named Toyota Canada Players of the Week

Scrubb scored 20 points on 6-8 shooting — including 5-7 from beyond-the-arc — to go along with seven assists and four rebounds in a FIBA Europe Cup contest against Nymburk. Scrubb, who is suiting up for Bahcesehir of the Turkey-BSL this season, also tallied 17 points and seven assists earlier in the week, following up a 26-point performance last week. The Carleton Ravens alumnus suited up for Canada this past summer at the FIBA Men’s Basketball World Cup 2023, where he helped the Senior Men’s National Team win a bronze medal.

Ahlstrom helped the University of Saskatchewan Huskies to a Darcel Wright Memorial Classic win this past weekend in Toronto. She averaged 18 points per game on 55 per cent shooting, as the Huskies went 3-0 en route to the preseason tournament win ahead of the 2023-24 U SPORTS women’s basketball season. The Calgary, Alta. product, who captured the Bronze Baby with the Huskies in 2020, is set to enter her fifth and final season of U SPORTS eligibility. She last represented Canada this summer, suiting up for the 3x3 Women’s National Team at the FIBA 3x3 Women’s Series Fribourg Stop, before then starring for the 3x3 U23 Women’s National Team at the FIBA 3x3 U23 Nations League Americas.
