TORONTO (November 6, 2025) — Canada Basketball announced Thursday the 20 athletes invited to attend the Senior Women’s National Team training camp in Victoria, B.C., from November 9–19, as the team continues preparations for the FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup 2026 Qualifying Tournament next March in Istanbul, Türkiye.
The team will train at the University of Victoria throughout the camp before facing Mexico in an exhibition game on Sunday, November 17 at 7:00 p.m. PT at Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre.
Tickets start at $18, plus fees, and are on sale now.
The camp will be led by head coach Nell Fortner, alongside assistant coaches Christie Sides, Carly Clarke, and Marlo Davis.
While the full roster will take part in camp, Delaney Gibb (Raymond, Alta.), Syla Swords (Sudbury, Ont.), Jasmine Bascoe (Milton, Ont.) and Avery Howell (Boise, Idaho) will participate in the opening portion before returning to their NCAA programs as their collegiate seasons begin — a reflection of their ongoing commitment to Canada’s national team pathway.
“It’s rare that we have the opportunity to bring together such a diverse and talented group of athletes from across the basketball landscape — from high school and college to WNBA and professional leagues overseas,” said Steve Baur, Vice-President and General Manager, Women’s High Performance.
“Stepping away from their respective seasons to be here speaks volumes about their dedication to the program, our values, and to one another. This camp gives us valuable time on the court to build chemistry and alignment ahead of next year’s World Cup Qualifiers."
The FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup 2026 Qualifying Tournament will take place March 11–17, 2026, in Istanbul, Türkiye, with the top three teams in Canada’s group automatically earning their bid to the FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup 2026 in Germany next September.
Canada placed fourth at the 2022 FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup in Australia — the program’s best finish since 1986 — and will look to build on that success moving forward.
