TORONTO (May. 29, 2025) - Steve Sir and Brynn Masikewich have been named Players of the week for May. 19-25.
Veteran Steve Sir led Canada’s 3x3 National team through an undefeated weekend at the FIBA 3x3 World Cup Qualifier in Baku, Azerbaijan. As the second leading scorer in the competition, Sir had eight points in the teams first matchup of the day versus Great Britain, followed by a 10-point performance against Azerbaijan. The Edmonton, Alta. native and his teammates secured Canada’s first World Cup bid since 2018 and are now set to compete in the FIBA 3x3 World Cup 2025 in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia next month.
Far from her hometown in Stampede City (Calgary, Alta.), 6'3 forward Brynn Masikewich is showcasing her versatile skill set in her first year as a pro in the Australian NBL 1 Women’s league. This past week, Masikewich led her club, Albury LB, in a 96-64 victory over Canberra with 19 points, five assists and nine rebounds, while shooting 61.5 % from the field. Her consistent presence on both ends of the floor is evident as she followed this performance with another 12 points and 10 rebounds game against the BA CoE. Brynn Masikewich last suited up for Canada at GLOBL JAM in 2023, helping Canada secure the silver medal in the tournament.
