Thomas Scrubb and Shayeann Day-Wilson Named Toyota Players of the Week for August 2-8

Thomas Scrubb and Shayeann Day-Wilson have been named the Toyota Players of the Week for August 2-8.

Thomas Scrubb averaged 20 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists in 2 games helping the Niagara River Lions (CEBL) go 3-0. The 6’7” small forward from Richmond, B.C. led his team in scoring every game and shot 53% from the field, as well as recorded just under three steals per game. Scrubb attended Carleton University (U SPORTS) where he played alongside his brother and won 5 straight CIS National Championships. After playing for the Ravens, Scrubb began playing professionally in Europe in 2015, and currently plays for Monbus Obradoiro (Liga ACB) in Spain. Scrubb last represented Canada in the FIBA AmeriCup 2022 Qualifiers.

Shayeann Day-Wilson made a statement in her Team Canada National Team debut averaging 30 points, 5.5 rebounds and 5.5 assists in her first two games of the FIBA U19 Women’s Basketball World Cup 2021. The 5”6’ point guard shot 92% from the free throw line to help Canada go 1-1 in the first two games of the tournament. The Toronto, ON native just completed a successful high school career at Crestwood Secondary School.
