U18 Women's National Team Finish Pool Play Undefeated

VALDIVIA, CHILE - The U18 Women's National Team made it look easy tonight, finishing pool play undefeated in the 2016 FIBA Americas U18 Women's Championship by defeating Puerto Rico 69-47.

"A good hard fought win vs a scrappy Puerto Rico team. They never quit and we kept composure when they made a run in the 4th quarter. Now we look ahead to the semis vs a tough Brazil team." says Carly Clarke, head coach of Canada's U18 Women's Team.

Canada's starting unit featured captain Mikaela Brewer, Hailey Brown, Mikaela Dodig, Alyssa Jerome and Aislinn Konig. Click here for full team roster.

Jerome led Canada with 22 points, 10 rebounds and 3 assists, Konig added 16 point, 9 rebounds and 5 assists, and Epoch scored 9, had 2 rebounds and 2 assists. For game boxscore click Here.

Canada's defense was strong for 40 minutes, they had 44 defensive rebounds, and an amazing 15 blocks and caused 21 turnovers, but most notably in the first quarter when they held Puerto Rico to only 2 points.  

FIBA top performers from both teams were Canada's #11 Alyssa Jerome with 22 points, 20 rebounds, 3 assists and 7 blocks and Puerto Rico's #5 Veronica Cancio with 5 points, 3 assists, and 1 steal.

Canada had a team win today and kept composer against the feisty components. Canada had 21 team assists and 24 points that came from off the bench.
