Why is Steve Nash Youth Basketball So Great for Kids?

Introducing SNYB, a Canada Basketball youth program designed to develop fundamental skills, sportsmanship, and a love of the game of basketball.

#1 Because SNYB makes training fun.

The number one reason kids play sports is to have fun, and SNYB is designed so kids have fun first!  By introducing skills gradually over a season, maximizing participation in games and activities, and encouraging skill experiment and discovery, kids leave each SNYB session with a smile on their faces.

While there will always be a time and place for traditional training methods, SNYB keeps kids active, ensuring they enjoy the practices and their development.

#2 Because SNYB promotes fundamental skill development.

Fundamental movement skills are the basic physical movements: running, jumping, throwing, or catching.  SNYB focuses on development of these skills - they are the building blocks for children to succeed in any physical activity.

Once kids have mastered these basic skills, SNYB then teaches them the fundamental sport skills for basketball:  dribbling, shooting, rebounding and so on.   This method is proven to provide a solid foundation to succeed in sports, whether just to have fun or in a more serious way.

#3 Because SNYB develops good people and good athletes.

Sport can be effectively used to impart life lessons, enhance social skills, and develop a sense of self and self-confidence. SNYB takes full advantage of that potential.

By building life skills such as teamwork, communication and goal setting into the curriculum, SNYB trains youth athletes to be positive, constructive, and empowered individuals and members of society.  All that, and they can dribble too!
