Canada Basketball Announces “East to West: Road to World Cup” Series Featuring Senior Men’s and Women’s Teams

TORONTO – Canada Basketball today announced East to West: Road to World Cup, a two-game showcase featuring the nation’s senior men’s and women’s national teams as they prepare for upcoming FIBA World Cup competition.

“We’re thrilled to bring our Senior National Teams back to Canadian soil as we continue our journey toward FIBA Women’s World Cup 2026 in Berlin and FIBA Men’s World Cup 2027 in Qatar," said Michael Bartlett, President & CEO of Canada Basketball.

"From Victoria to Toronto, these games represent more than just preparation — they’re a celebration of the incredible momentum behind Canadian basketball and the athletes who are all part of our path to the podium. Our fans have been the heartbeat of this growth, and we can’t wait to share these moments with them again.”

The series tips off with the return of W’HOOP IT UP to Victoria, British Columbia, where Canada’s Senior Women’s National Team will face Team Mexico on November 17, 2025, at Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre. Fans can expect to see Canada’s top international talent, including WNBA players, take the court in Victoria.

This marks the women’s program’s third appearance in Victoria in recent years, following matchups against Japan in 2023 and Portugal in 2024 where they broke their own record of hosting the largest home-game attendance with over 5,015 fans.

The game will serve as a key tune-up for the FIBA Women’s World Cup 2026 Qualifying Tournament in Istanbul, Turkey, in March, as the Canadian women’s team looks to punch their ticket to next summer’s World Cup in Germany. The women’s team is currently ranked seventh in the latest FIBA World Ranking Women, presented by Nike.

The action continues in Toronto, where the Senior Men’s National Team hosts Team Bahamas during the second leg of their home-and-home competition in the first window of the FIBA Men’s World Cup 2027 Qualifiers. The matchup takes place December. 1, 2025, at 7 p.m. ET at Toronto Metropolitan University’s Mattamy Athletic Centre.

Coming off a bronze medal finish at the FIBA Men’s World Cup 2023 in Manila, and a fifth-place finish at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, the men’s program looks to continue its global ascent. The men’s team is currently ranked fifth in the latest FIBA World Ranking Men, presented by Nike.
