TORONTO (March 2, 2026) – Canada Basketball announced Monday the athletes invited to attend its 2026 Women’s U17 and U18 Canada Basketball Selection Camp fuelled by Gatorade, set for March 26-29 at Brock University in St. Catharines, Ont.
Held annually each spring, the Selection Camp brings together the top athletes from across the country within Canada Basketball’s Women’s High Performance pathway. Athletes born in 2008 are eligible for the U18 age group, while athletes born in 2009 or later are eligible for U17.
“This camp is a critical step in our high performance pathway,” said Steve Baur, General Manager, Women’s High Performance. “It serves as our final tryout and the point where we make our final roster decisions for the summer. Our U17 group has ambitions to compete for another medal, and the U18 class brings strong depth as they prepare to compete. Our focus now is to finalize our teams and ensure they are ready to perform with the expectations that come with representing Canada.”
Following the Selection Camp, athletes will be invited to a final age-group training camp later this summer in Toronto. Final rosters will represent Canada at the 2026 FIBA U17 Women’s Basketball World Cup in Brno, Czechia, and the 2026 FIBA U18 Women’s AmeriCup (location to be announced).
The event will conclude on the final day with the Canada Basketball Selection Camp Games fuelled by Gatorade, with U17 and U18 athletes competing in intrasquad games. Both contests will be live streamed, with broadcast details to be announced closer to the event.
Gatorade, Canada Basketball’s official hydration partner, will serve as presenting partner of the Selection Camp for the first time. As part of its renewed commitment to the program, Gatorade is deepening its investment in Canada Basketball’s age-group teams and supporting the organization’s high performance pathway.
Through the Selection Camp, Gatorade will enhance their support of athlete hydration, performance and recovery initiatives as Canada identifies the next generation of national team athletes.
