TORONTO (July 9, 2025) — Canada Basketball announced the U19 Women’s National Team roster ahead of the FIBA U19 Women’s Basketball World Cup 2025.
The FIBA U19 Women’s Basketball World Cup 2025 is set for July 12-20 in Brno, Czechia and features the best 16 teams in the world. All the action will be streaming live on FIBA’s YouTube channel.
Canada is in Group B with Portugal (Saturday, July 12 at 8:30 am ET / 5:30 am PT), Nigeria (Sunday, July 13 at 5:45 am ET / 2:45 am PT) and China (Tuesday, July 15 at 5:45 am ET / 2:45 am PT).
All 16 teams participating in the event will advance to the competition's Final Phase with a single-elimination format in place from the Round of 16 onwards.
The team trained at Humber College in Toronto before travelling to Portugal for a series of exhibition games.
Canada has medalled twice at the FIBA U19 Women’s Basketball World Cup, including most recently in 2023, a team both Jasmine Bascoe and Syla Swords starred on. A 26-point performance from Swords helped Canada defeat France 80-73 in overtime to claim bronze.
After serving as an assistant coach with Canada’s U18/U19 age-group teams for several years, including on the bronze medal winning staff at the FIBA U19 Women’s Basketball World Cup 2023, Davis made his National Team head coaching debut this past summer where he led Canada to silver at the FIBA U18 Women’s AmeriCup 2024, will serve as head coach.
Canada is currently ranked third overall in the FIBA girls age-group rankings, presented by Nike, following the conclusion of the FIBA 2024 Youth Events.
