About Canada Basketball Foundation

Canada Basketball views sport as a powerful tool that can unify Canadians, coast-to-coast-to-coast.    

In reflection of Canada Basketball’s UNIFIED 2024 commitments, the Canada Basketball Foundation prioritizes the support of not-for-profit and non-profit programs and initiatives that help keep Canadian sports spaces safe and welcoming for participants of all roots, ethnicities, religions, identities, and abilities.     

The Canada Basketball Foundation supports groups whose priorities include developing inclusive and equitable opportunities for youth through sport, with a focus on increasing access for underserved, under-represented or historically racialized communities such as, but not limited to:

- Indigenous youth (i.e., First Nations, Métis and/or Inuit)
- Newcomers and Refugee identified youth
- Black youth
- Francophone youth
- Girl-Identified youth (in the case of gender-specific programming)
- 2SLGBTQQIA+ identified youth
- Youth who identify as having a disability (visible and/or invisible)  
- Youth living in rural, remote and/or Northern communities
- Youth in low-income situations or from low-income families  
- Other racialized youth groups

In addition to aligning with Canada Basketball's UNIFIED 2024 commitments, programs and initiatives applying for support from the Canada Basketball Foundation must align with at least one (1) of the following three (3) Canada Basketball Foundation development pathways:  

- Coaching and Officiating  Development
- Youth Sport Leadership Development
- Youth Basketball Skill Development
